MRSS Service

You are encouraged to log on and off with the RVCP each time you go out to sea or cruise our waterways. This is a FREE service provided by the Coastal Patrol in the interests of safer boating.

Standard operating procedures for the operation of Volunteer Marine Rescue organisations are laid down by the State Rescue Board and the Water Police. When a boat owner logs on for tracking, the Coastal Patrol is required to collect certain information, including static details of the owner, the boat, the vehicle, the trailer & shore-based contacts together with details of the current trip, eg departure point, destination, number of persons on board & the nominated return time.

The MRSS service makes this process faster, more convenient and more private as the static details are obtained on initial sign-up and maintained in a database. Once this is done it is only necessary to obtain the current trip details over the radio. The fee for this service is $30 per year. Personal information is kept confidential and is only accessible by the Coastal Patrol and search and rescue authorities if the need arises.

The RVCP depends upon local support for the rescue vessels, radio bases, all running costs including fuel and maintenance and your membership fee goes a long way to help pay for these costs.
