NSW State Forecast
Issued at 11:20 on Tuesday the 6th of January 2009

Warning Summary:
A Fire Weather Warning is current for parts of the Riverina, South West Slopes
and Central West Slopes and Plains. Strong Wind warning for NSW coastal waters
between Smoky Cape and Broken Bay. Refer to www.bom.gov.au for latest warning
and Rural Fire Service Total Fire Ban information.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A broad trough over inland NSW will remain over the state until Wednesday,
gradually moving to the northeast. Very hot and relatively dry air is associated
with this trough. Moist tropical air over Queensland and the Northern Territory
is forecast to move southwards mid-week, and should bring increasing cloud and
isolated showers on Wednesday, contracting to the northeast during Thursday.
Isolated thunderstorms are also possible over northern and central parts of the
state over the next few days. A cold front will enter the south of the state
Wednesday afternoon, and then should move along the coast on Thursday, bringing
cooler south to southeast winds.

Forecast for Tuesday
Dry. Hot to very hot conditions, tempered on the coast by east to northeast
winds, freshening in the afternoon. Westerly winds inland.
Fire danger: Very High: Illawarra, Central Tablelands. Very High to Extreme and
Fire weather warning: Lower Western, Riverina, South West Slopes, Central West
Slopes and Plains

Forecast for Wednesday
Remaining fine in the northeast and southwest. Increasing cloud and isolated
showers and thunderstorms over the remainder. Hot to very hot west to northwest
winds inland ahead of a gusty southwest change in the southwest and on the South
Coast. Increasing northeast winds along the coast. Raised dust likely over the
far southwest.

Forecast for Thursday
Fine in the west. Isolated showers and drizzle along the central and southern
coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the
north coast and the northern and central tablelands, slopes and plains.
Southerly winds in the west and extending northwards along the coast. Easterly
winds increasing over remaining eastern parts of the state.

Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers along the coast, becoming fine in the south and tending
scattered in the north. Possible afternoon showers and thunderstorms about the
northwest slopes and plains. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to east winds.
